The determination of the hopelessness levels of children with hearing impaired

Abstract


This definitive research was carried out to determine the levels of hopelessness of the children with hearing impaired and to
compare these data with socio-demographic characteristics.The study includes 50 children at or above the age of 13 who are trained and educated at the Erzurum Dede Korkut Primary School for Children with Hearing 􀃹mpaired . All of the children were included in the study without using sampling method. The data were collected through a questionnaire to determine the socio-demographic characteristics of the children with hearing impaired and Beck Hopelessness scale to determine the levels of their hopelessness . In the evaluating of the data percentage, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U (MWU), Kruskall-Wallis (KW) tests were used. The average point of the children with hearing impaired got from the Hopelessness scale has been found as 8.50±4.53.Some suggestions have been made to the issue in the light of the results obtained.
